Souvlaki: The Greatest Invention Since the Wheel?

Background:

The boyfriend is a huge fan of souvlaki. Personally, I really don’t care for it can take it or leave it. But every now and then when I ask what he feels like having for dinner and he responds, oh so hopefully, ‘do you feel like souvlaki?’, I agree to a souvlaki or two. Tonight was one such night.

Conversation between the boyfriend and I:

Him: It’s so good isn’t it?

Me: Yes

Him: No, it’s the best food ever.

Me: Ok.

Him: No, really, souvlaki is really the best food ever.

Me: Yes, ok.

Him: But seriously, souvlaki is the greatest invention since the wheel. And the Greeks invented it.

Me: Oh please, I’m sure people have been cooking meat on a stick of some sort, since before the wheel was invented. All the Greeks did was add lemon juice and oregano.

Him: (aka: Outraged and Indignant) You don’t deserve good Greek food.
