The Happy Misfit is a silly name that came about largely due to my (now discontinued) attempts to embrace my geocultural displacement. For clarity’s sake, I am rarely happy. I am however - always - a misfit.

Sometimes I write about the things that keep me awake at night. Sometimes I write to let it all out. Sometimes I write because being here*, being far from home**, means that I have few people to talk to, and even less that understand. Sometimes I write because if I don’t, I worry that I won’t be able to keep it all in.
I blog because it keeps me honest. I blog because I want a letter, a record, a remembering, a memory, a history and a map. I blog because it creates ties. I blog because otherwise, it’s all too much like shouting into the void. And I’m a little tired of doing that.

This blog does not represent all of who I am. It is a macro, a snippet, a distortion - a series of pieces that when put together, do not equal a life.
